If you feel inspired or even compelled to do more, community involvement is a great way to lend a hand. Leading by example is a powerful community influence. You may also consider training to counsel neighbors in crisis, and know the right resources to help someone in need.
Leading by example
- If you are a legal purchase age adult and choose to drink alcohol, do so in moderation and always have a plan
- Don’t condone irresponsible consumption, recount, or be amused by stories relating to alcohol misuse
- Always be a responsible host, serving a full meal, and non-alcoholic alternatives
- Be conscious of the influence your alcohol consumption has on young people
- Seek to help those who struggle with consuming alcohol responsibly, and always honor the decision of those who choose not to drink
- Model alternatives to consuming alcohol
